At a recent Club meeting, the guest speaker was Representative Anne Gobi, Democrat of Spencer. She is one of three candidates running for the office of State Senator that was vacated by Senator Stephen Brewer. Rep. Gobi is the third and last candidate for State Senator to speak to Rotary. The District for this position covers 28 towns. As a state representative, Gobi currently represents 11 of the 28 towns in the Senate district and, prior to redistricting, represented an additional four communities in the district. She has served in the position since 2001, when she won the seat during a special election. Gobi currently serves as Chair of the Joint Committee on Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture. She shared her priorities with us and a demonstrated ability to work for and with her constituents. While Rotary does not endorse any candidate running for office, we do want to be informed about the background, experience, and platform of each candidate running for a particular office.
