Each year the Rotary Club of Sturbridge sponsors two High School Sophomores to attend the  3-day RYLA program, held this year    June 23-25, 2017    at Fitchburg State University. This past summer 46 clubs of Rotary District 7910 sponsored 196 students.

The Sturbridge Rotary Club sponsored students attend Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge.  See a testimonial from a Tantasqua student who attended.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intense and fun training program for community youth leaders. The selected students develop their leadership potential, learn the need for team participation, test their thinking outside the box skills, improve their public speaking ability and compare their mind-body coordination, through practice.

This Rotary-paid, 3-day residential conference IS FUN for the attendees, as each participant makes new friends very quickly. It starts at 9:30 AM on Friday and ends Sunday at approximately 5:30 PM, after a presentation by the students to their parents on Sunday afternoon.

Students are required to attend for the entire duration of the event!

The curriculum is designed by professionals; with some new activities introduced each year.

For students’ safety, Rotarian chaperons are on duty the entire time.

Typically, the students are invited to tell of their experience at a subsequent meeting of the sponsoring Rotary club. Without fail, they speak glowingly of this program.
