The Sturbridge Rotary Club started another tradition in 2012 with the introduction of the Sturbridge Rotary Club Thanksgiving Game Trophy for the local rival teams of Tantasqua Regional High School in Sturbridge vs. Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Charlton. The Captains and Head Coach of each school attended the Rotary meeting before the Big Game and viewed the award for the first time. On the Monday after the game the coach and captains of the winning team are awarded the trophy by the Club President. The winning team will hold the trophy until prior to the next years’ game.
This is the first year that Rotary attended the Homecoming Game and presented the trophy right after the game to the head coach of the winning team. This is also the first year that the Tantasqua Warriors won with a score of 32 to 15 over the Shepherd Hill Rams. Below is the trophy presentation for 2017.
The Shepherd Hill Rams continued to dominate the Homecoming Game winning for the fifth year in a row against the Tantasqua Warriors with a score of 55 to 0. Below is the trophy presentation for 2016.
The Rams from Shepherd Hill Regional High School did it again! For the fourth year, the Rams won the Rotary Homecoming Football Trophy with a score of 50 to the Tantasqua Warriors’ score of 28. President Austin Jenkins presented the 2015 trophy to Shepherd Hills’ Assistant Coach Ryan Dugan with the team captains at his side.
This is the third year that Sturbridge Rotary has awarded the Thanksgiving Game Trophy. Again for the third year the Shepherd Hill Rams won with a score of 22 versus Tantasqua with 6. The Sturbridge Rotary Club Thanksgiving Game Trophy is two years old and the Shepherd Hill Rams have won it both times. Below, President Larry Mandell presents the 2013 trophy to Captains Joshua Ponce do Leon, James McGuigan, Robbie Brooks and Coach Chris Lindstrom. The score this year was Shepherd Hill Rams 20, Tantasqua Warriors 14.
